At Fillongley we are lucky to have one of the most picturesque grounds in Warwickshire if not the country. We play in the grounds of Fillongley Hall on grass wickets lovingly prepared by our groundsman. Practice takes place on the pitches and outfield and on our newly completed artificial surface net practice bay. We use a BOLA bowling machine to hone our batsmen's skills.
In the winter we arrange practice sessions at a local school, usually on Tuesday evenings.
Why not come and see if you like Fillongley Cricket Club?
Juniors practice at the ground every Tuesday 6 pm until 7:30 (Weather permitting) from Easter to the summer holidays.
Just come along, or you can phone or text Steve or Sandra Gardner, Junior Cricket Coordinators on 07795809937
What about Kit?
For juniors we provide all the equipment you need to play except clothing and an abdominal protector (box). Bats, pads, helmets, gloves etc are all provided by the club. Each year we have a kit exchange where outgrown kit can be "recycled"
We recognise that if young people are to continue to play cricket it must be fun. Our training is designed to be enjoyable whilst also developing the skills needed to play the game. We ensure our coaches keep up to date with latest thinking to help us make the training inspirational and we seek feedback from our juniors on their view of training.
Our Junior Match Philosophy
To enjoy a game you have to be involved and if you train you will, if you wish, be included in a suitable team. All players in a team will participate - no question.
Whilst we like to enjoy success, we don't believe in "win at all costs" - junior cricket is about teamwork and playing the right way.
Girls Playing Cricket
We actively encourage girls to start playing cricket and most of our teams up the age of 13 already include girls. Last year Laura Croft, a current Warwickshire Women player and accredited coach, ran our joint Chance to Shine sessions at Arley School and it is our ambition to have one of our junior girls progress to the Senior team.
Fillongley Cricket Club Junior Section aims to help boys and girls of all ages start to play and develop their cricketing skills. We place the emphasis firmly on enjoyment and ensure that every player gets their chance to shine.
We welcome players from age 5 to 18 and run teams at ages under 7/8, under 9, under 10 and under 13.
We are accredited by Warwickshire Cricket Board to the Club Mark standard and all our coaches are trained to recognised qualifications.
Our Welfare Officer ensures that all our activities meet the exacting standards of the Mark.
We work with local schools, including Bournebrook CofE, Arley and Shustoke schools under both A Chance to Shine and the recently launched All Stars Programme.
